GlobalWelsh City Hub (China) 1H20 Update

Jul 07, 2020

Welcome to our first City Hub update, which we hope finds you all safe and well. So far, our GlobalWelsh China Hub members are all yet to meet up physically but we like to keep everyone aware of what’s been going on and what we’ve got coming up!

Our aim is to build up our GlobalWelsh China community and connect during these volatile times. So please either use either GlobalWelsh Connect or our GlobalWelsh WeChat Group to share your stories and photographs on what you are doing in China.

The last six months have been a rollercoaster, but we are delighted to share three exciting milestones we’ve reached:

Launch of GlobalWelsh Connect

GlobalWelsh launched Connect, a brand new online community platform to bring together Welsh people and those with an affinity for Wales located all over the world. The platform is available online via browser and through a mobile app.

GlobalWelsh currently has an active community of members in 47 countries. The new platform will host this growing community and provide tools for members to engage, support and share with one another, as well participate in other GlobalWelsh initiatives and events. The platform is free to join but members can also choose from a selection of paid membership packages offering enhanced features and benefits.
If you haven’t joined Connect – it’s super easy to join and invite others too.

GlobalWelsh Academy Future Series

China has appeared twice so far in the newly launched FutureWelsh Academy series. In June we held a very popular Zoom webinar with panelists from across the world of business discussing the opportunities between China and Wales in the wake of the pandemic. This discussion was met with various inquiries from participants and potential new business developments. On July 8, GlobalWelsh China member Keith Griffiths will host a webinar discussing the future of living and working, which is sure to offer some fascinating insights.

GlobalWelsh China Hub emerging events

We plan to run another Future Series Academy webinar this summer to help Chinese investors get a clear line of sight to emerging Welsh investment opportunities and how we can leverage our strategic partnership with the Cardiff Capital Region through start/scale-ups and M&A deals.

Diolch and thanks!
